A volunteer-run community garden at Lower Botanic Gardens, founded by residents in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast and the UPSURGE Project.
The garden supports urban food growing, biodiversity, and shared learning, and has developed with support from Belfast City Council. Weekly volunteering by local residents, skills-sharing, and seasonal growing form the core of the project, led by a dedicated and growing group of volunteers who collectively plan, care for, and maintain the space.
Alongside food growing, the garden functions as an open community hub, hosting small-scale workshops, wellbeing activities, and events that support participation and learning. The project continues to grow steadily through the commitment and involvement of its members.
